I'm Sam De Gruchy, a BACP-registered Integrative Therapist offering therapy in-person (Brighton) and online (Jersey and UK-wide).
You might find troubling emotions, memories, experiences or patterns are leaving you feeling overwhelmed, stuck or perhaps lost - therapy can help with this and much more. I work with clients to release such blocks, leading to greater appreciation and understanding of themselves, with improved clarity, direction and freedom in their lives.
There is a saying ‘the truth will set you free’ and I fully believe this to be the case. The difficulty is that our own subjective truths can often be obscure (even to ourselves), or may have been shut down, blocked or masked in response to the words or actions of ourselves or others. Our experiences of vulnerability to date have often been challenging or hurtful, and lead us to further fear being our authentic selves. I offer a space to undo this process, to explore your authenticity with trust and compassion, and release difficult emotions or patterns currently working overtime to protect you.
My intention is to support you in aiming for your highest ideal, whilst at the same time being patient, caring and compassionate with how things are for you right now.
welcome
I am an Integrative therapist and I work relationally from a person-centred base
One of the main benefits of Integrative therapy is flexibility and a dynamic approach, integrating several modalities. It is rooted in our collective humanness, tailored to your personal experience. I support clients with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, anger, depression, self-esteem, relationships, life direction, identity, existential and spiritual difficulties.
The ‘relational’ part is just as important. Therapy takes place in a relationship, and working in a relational way means leaning into this, because a real and genuine relationship creates the space for the real you to emerge and be witnessed. The therapeutic alliance between therapist and client is the fertile ground within which you can grow in true self-confidence, as well as improving boundaries and trust in relation to others.
Lastly, a ‘person-centred base’ is all about trust and autonomy. I believe each person has the right to self-determine their own process and life choices, and my practice is rooted in this humanistic principle. It means not only growing in confidence, but also clarity and a sense of control increasingly available to you outside and beyond therapy.
