FAQ

What happens in the free intro call?

It’s a relaxed 20-minute video chat held on Google Meet. You can share or ask as much or as little as feels right. I’ll tell you a little about how I work, and ask a little about your intentions for therapy. We may discuss availability for a first session, though there’s no pressure to decide during the call.

What will the first session be like?

The first session will be gently shaped around an assessment. This means some more directive questions and a little more note-taking from me than there is likely to be in following sessions. There’s no preparation required, nor a right or wrong way to be in this session - arrive as you are.

How long will I be in therapy for?

The number of sessions is open-ended, on an ongoing weekly basis (allowing for breaks and holidays). This allows us to work with rhythm, and at the right depth for you. When it comes to ending, I will typically encourage an ending session to close the space with care. The choice to stop work is always ultimately yours.

Online or In-person?

Both have their merits and drawbacks. I’m set up to offer each (assuming availability), and so the choice really is your personal preference. My in-person sessions are held in the beautiful rooms on Ship Street in central Brighton. Online sessions are held via Google Meet. Sessions are typically at the same time each week, allowing for some flexibility to accommodate diaries.

Who are you not best suited for?

I work with adults only (18+) and therefore am unable to work with children or adolescents. I also do not see couples together or offer couples therapy (though Relationship difficulties are very much a part of what I support with, on a one-to-one basis). I am a Mental Health professional, but not a Medical professional - I will not ever diagnose health conditions or prescribe medication.

Where does AI fit in to therapy?

AI can be a wonderful supplementary tool for clients alongside therapy, if it is healthily balanced and integrated into your ‘real world.’ Relational therapy has the benefit of genuine human contact and attunement - a real relationship that becomes a safe place to embody positive changes that manifest outside and beyond therapy, too.
